Your promptness has been truly outstanding. Had it not been for your undivided attention and guidance I probably would not be able to go through the amps as easily as I did and be able to set all factory specs within a very tight tolerance, which for the most part is a direct attribute of the wide variation of typical electrical characteristics of the PL 519. The work I did was minor, replacing a couple of drifted resistors here and there. However, the time I joyfully spent learning the workings of the amps has been well worth the effort. I feel that I now have a fair understanding of how the amp works. The input and power supply designs are work of art, quite unique and sophisticated yet with utter simplicity and efficiency of design. I am proud to own a pair of VDNs. Thank you for helping me put them back in service.
The amps as I type are driving a pair of fairly efficient speakers that employ series cross-over. Without having done any critical listening which I really don’t
think is necessary, I can easily hear the tightest most controlled bottom end I never knew these speaker were able to reproduce. The midrange is sweet and detailed, the top end is well defined and the overall entirely sound is non-fatiguing. These amps are so enjoyable that setting aside time to do critical listening is depriving oneself of precious time to enjoy the music. Critical listening seems pointless and redundant. The amps are so effortless that there is simply no need to waste time doing anything else but to enjoy them.
